Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 cup(s) bulgur, coarse
  • 4 cups water
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ tsp salt
  • pepper
  • 4 tbsp oil (sunflower oil)

Instructions

Working time approx. 7 minutes; Total time approx. 7 minutes

as a side dish to Mediterranean dishes

Heat oil in a saucepan, ensuring the bottom is covered. Add the bulgur and toast lightly. Add the tomato paste and stir well. Pour in water, season with salt and pepper. Cover the pan and let the bulgur simmer gently over low heat for about 20 minutes. Caution: it burns easily! Reduce the heat to the lowest setting 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
