Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 125 g long grain rice
  • 1 ½ liters of water
  • 300 g sugar
  • ½ tsp saffron
  • 1 tbsp potato flour
  • 3 tbsp arrowroot flour
  • 100 g raisins
  • 100 g pine nuts
  • 1 pomegranate

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

sweet saffron rice from Turkey

Bring the water, sugar, and washed rice to a boil. Simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes. Grind the saffron with a little sugar and let it soften briefly with a little milk. Add the potato flour and arrowroot flour, mix well, and add to the rice. Simmer until a thick porridge forms. Transfer this porridge to a bowl or serving dish and let it cool. Garnish with raisins, pine nuts, and shelled pomegranate seeds.
