Wholegrain Spelled Bread

The perfect wholegrain spelled bread recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

For the dough:

  • 800 g Wholemeal spelled flour
  • 1 packet Dry yeast
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 550 ml Warm water

For the dough

  1. Put the flour in a bowl.
  2. Add the dry yeast and mix.
  3. Add salt and warm water and knead everything well.
  4. Let the dough rise for several hours.
  5. Knead the dough well again and place in a floured cast iron saucepan.
  6. Sprinkle the dough with flour and score twice with a knife.
  7. Place the pot with the lid in the preheated oven.
  8. Bake with a lid at 230 degrees top and bottom heat for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the lid and bake for another 15 minutes at 200 degrees top and bottom heat without the lid.
