Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 140 g tuna in its own juice
  • 60 g mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp celery
  • 2 tbsp onion(s), red, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp mustard, e.g. Dijon or coarse-grained mustard
  • 1 tsp parsley, flat, chopped
  • 2 tsp chopped gherkins or cucumber relish for a hamburger sauce, see my recipe
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 5 minutes

Fill a small bowl with cold water, add the chopped onion, and let it soak for five minutes. Then remove it from the water and drain it on paper towels. Drain the tuna, transfer it to a medium bowl, and shred it with a fork. Add the onion and the other ingredients—except for the salt, pepper, and lemon juice—and mix well. Season the salad with salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste and refrigerate for two hours to allow the flavors to blend. Delicious on bread or on its own.
