Stuffed French Toast

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 slices of toast
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese
  • 2 tsp jam
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 150 ml milk
  • 5 drops of vanilla flavor, or 1/2 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • possibly cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp oil, or margarine or butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Poor Knights Deluxe from America

Spread cream cheese on one side of each slice of toast, and jam on two of the slices, leaving a little space around the edges. Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and sugar (cinnamon if desired) in a shallow bowl. Fold the toasted slices together and press them together to prevent them from falling apart. Then place them in the egg mixture, allowing them to soak up the mixture on all sides. Heat oil, butter, or margarine in a pan and fry the bread. Serve with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or powdered sugar (or all of the above).
