Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 250 g bread(s), (bread dumpling bread)
- 5 eggs, weight class M
- some cinnamon and sugar
- 200 g cream or milk
- 50 g butter, for the pan
- some powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes
Side dish: cherry or apple compote
Beat the eggs and cinnamon sugar until frothy. Thoroughly mix the dumpling bread (or sliced bread rolls) with the eggs and cream. Let stand for a good 10 minutes. Heat the butter in a non-stick pan. Spread the bread mixture evenly in the pan. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Tear the Schmarren into pieces with a wooden spoon and continue frying until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar and serve. Tip: Serve with apple compote (or apple puree) or canned fruit.
