Gieblis walnut liqueur made from green, unripe walnuts

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g walnuts, green and unripe
  • 700 ml vodka
  • 60 g brown sugar
  • 40 g rock sugar
  • 1 pinch(s) cinnamon powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest period approx. 42 days; Total time approx. 42 days 1 hour

Unripe walnuts are harvested while their shells are still green. Cut a small slit along the side and let them rest for a few days to ripen. After that, the shells are easy to remove. Wear gloves, otherwise your fingernails will turn brown, which will become impossible to remove. The underside of the walnuts should now be paler than that of ripe, dark walnuts. Crack them open and place the nuts in a container with the other ingredients. Store in a dark place for 6 weeks. Strain, filter, and bottle the finished liqueur. The difference from liqueur made with ripe walnuts lies in the color and flavor of the liqueur.
