Candied, lacquered walnuts

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 ½ cups walnuts
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Nuts with a “crunch” and wonderful shine

Blanch the walnuts in hot (but not boiling) water and let them stand for 2 minutes. Drain well, place them in a bowl, and mix with the sugar. Let stand overnight. Heat the oil in a pan (not too hot) and add the sugar-coated walnuts. Stir constantly until browned. It will take a while for the sugar to melt and begin to brown. Let cool on a wire rack lined with parchment paper.
