Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 200 g almonds, whole, unpeeled
- 50 ml water
- 50 g sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Butter, for greasing
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
Heat a nonstick pan. Bring the water to a boil along with the sugar, vanilla sugar, and cinnamon. Add the almonds and continue to cook while stirring. The sugar will begin to dry and become crumbly. Keep stirring until the sugar begins to melt again and forms strings. Pour onto a baking sheet lightly greased with butter. Immediately begin separating the almonds (I find it works best with two forks) so they don’t stick together in one clump. Let them cool completely on the baking sheet. I package the roasted almonds in small bags for a nice, delicious gift. My tip: The buttered baking sheet also helps prevent the roasted almonds from sticking together as much afterward.
