  • Salt

  • Water

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

super simple delicious snack

Bring water to a boil in a pot, add the almonds briefly, for about 1 minute. Then drain through a sieve and, once they’ve cooled slightly, peel them. This is a job for the patient; however, it’s worth it, as home-peeled almonds are much tastier than store-bought ones. Let the almonds dry on a tea towel – preferably overnight. Preheat oven to about 200°C (fan oven: about 170°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with butter or margarine. Now throw the almonds onto the baking sheet and roll them back and forth on the greased baking sheet. The purpose of the “rolling”: to get as much of the fat as possible. Then sprinkle generously with salt and put them in the oven. After 5 minutes, check the oven. I can’t give an exact time here, as the time it takes varies from oven to oven. The almonds are ready when they START to change color. If they’re really brown, it’s already too late, as they’ll start to taste bitter. Be careful! The almonds will continue to brown as they cool on the hot baking sheet.
