Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • ¼ liter broth or water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 garlic clove(s), chopped
  • 1 spring onion(s), sliced ​​into rings
  • 90 g corn semolina, coarse
  • salt and pepper
  • 50 g Parmesan or Cheddar cheese, grated

Sauté the butter and garlic in a saucepan. After one minute, add the spring onion rings. Then add the cream and broth and let it simmer briefly. Season with salt and pepper, then stir in the cornmeal. After about 12-15 minutes, stir in the grated cheese (Tip: You can save some cheese to garnish the finished grits). Serve hot. It’s also delicious for breakfast, but in that case, it’s best to omit the garlic and spring onions.
