Tahini – sesame paste

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g sesame seeds
  • Salt or honey

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

homemade

Toast the sesame seeds in a pan without oil until lightly browned and beginning to smell fragrant. Stir frequently to prevent burning. Remove from the pan and let cool. Blend with the chopper attachment on a blender or with an immersion blender until a smooth paste forms; this takes about 10 minutes. Use a tall, narrow container, as otherwise the sesame seeds will fly all over the kitchen. Turn off the blender occasionally to prevent overheating. The seeds are first crushed, then the oil releases, and the paste forms. You can add salt or a little honey to taste. It’s really very easy to make. Almonds or nuts can also be processed into almond or nut butter. To do this, they should be roughly chopped before roasting. You can peel them first, but this isn’t necessary. Peeled almonds produce a white almond butter. Given the price of almond butter from the health food store, it’s really worth making it yourself.
