for a casserole dish
A recipe from my mother’s old handwritten cookbook. Beat the eggs and sugar until frothy. Add the semolina, vanilla sugar, milk, sugar, and baking powder and mix well. Grease a baking dish and sprinkle with the breadcrumbs. Discard any breadcrumbs that stick to the dish. Pour the mixture into the baking dish. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C (top/bottom heat) for half an hour. Once baked, turn the mixture out into a larger baking dish. Heat the milk, mix with the sugar and vanilla extract. Pour the milk over the casserole and bake for another 45 minutes, ladling the milk over the casserole several times.
