Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 can/n sauerkraut, approx. 800 g
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 juniper berries
  • 4 apples
  • 60 g sugar
  • 50 ml Maggi

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Caramelize the sugar in a hot pan until light. Add the onion to the hot sugar mixture and fry. Add the sauerkraut to the pan and deglaze with half a can of water. Add the juniper berries, bay leaf, and the sliced ​​apples. Pour in the Maggi and close the pan. Bring the second ring to the boil, reduce the heat, and hold for 10 minutes. Drain under cold running water. Open the lid and serve the cabbage. Note: If you like, you can also add smoked bacon to the sugar and onion roast. Of course, this will make the calorie count incorrect. You can also add smoked pork ribs and cook for 10 minutes. We serve boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes with sausages as a side dish. Approx. 210 kcal per serving without smoked bacon or smoked pork ribs.
