Quick asparagus in the microwave

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g asparagus, white, preferably evenly thick stalks
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

simple, pure asparagus

Peel the fresh white asparagus, trim the ends, and rinse thoroughly. Place the moist asparagus on a sufficiently large piece of microwaveable foil, sprinkle with salt and sugar, and spread the butter in small pieces on top. Wrap the microwaveable foil around the ends of the asparagus, then wrap the long sides around the asparagus to create a leak-proof package. Place the asparagus package on a plate in the microwave. Cook at 600 watts for 5 minutes, then cook for a further 2-4 minutes, depending on the thickness of the asparagus spears and your preference for firmness. Remove the asparagus from the microwave, remove the foil—careful, it’s very hot!—and enjoy. Asparagus cooked this way retains its full flavor because no aroma is released into the cooking water.
