Pumpkin compote grandma's style

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g pumpkin flesh
  • ¼ liter of water
  • 75 g sugar
  • 4 tbsp vinegar
  • some lemon peel

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel the pumpkin, scoop out the skin, and cut into equal pieces. Bring the water, sugar, vinegar, and lemon zest to a boil. Add the pumpkin, bring the water back to a boil, and simmer over low heat until translucent. Season to taste with sugar, if desired.
