Asparagus and ham rolls, baked

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg white asparagus
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • some butter
  • 300 g cooked ham
  • 125 ml white wine, dry
  • 50 g butter
  • 150 g cheese, grated
  • possibly pepper, white

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

with a light white wine-butter-asparagus broth sauce

Peel the asparagus and cook in salted water with sugar and a knob of butter until almost tender. Arrange the asparagus spears on the slices of cooked ham. Roll them up and place them in a baking dish. Heat the butter, add the white wine and 125 ml of asparagus broth, and pour over the asparagus spears. Sprinkle with white pepper, if desired. Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 20 minutes. Serve with a fresh baguette.
