- 3 tbsp butter, soft

- 2 rolls of topping dough from the refrigerated section

- 200 ml water
- 100 g brown sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes
Peel the apples. Cut them in half to create a top and bottom half. Carefully remove the core using a melon baller. Then carefully scoop out the apple flesh using the baller and place the small apple pieces in a bowl. Don’t scoop out too much so the apple skin stays stable. In a small bowl, mix the removed apple pieces with the brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, butter, lemon juice, clove powder, chopped almonds, and raisins. Roll out the puff pastry on a work surface and, using a round bowl or plate, cut out two circles large enough to cover the apple halves. Now cut two circles out of the second puff pastry sheet. Beat the egg and brush the puff pastry circles with it. Place the hollowed-out apples in the center of the puff pastry circles and fill them with the apple and spice mixture. Press the top of the puff pastry together to create a fan-like shape. Shape the dumplings with your palms, brush the tops with egg, and lightly score the dough lids with a knife. Bake the dumplings in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the filling is simmering. While the dumplings are baking, bring the water, apple juice, and sugar to a boil. Simmer for 15 minutes, then reduce the sauce to thicken. Before serving, whisk the apple sauce with 2 tablespoons of butter and lemon juice. Pour the sauce over the still-warm dumplings.
