Minced meat pizza, Greek style with Metaxa sauce

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1,500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 200 g green olives, pitted
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 3 onions
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 8 tbsp gyro seasoning
  • 3 tsp salt
  • some pepper
  • 200 g Emmental cheese, grated
  • 200 ml sauce (Metaxa sauce, see my recipe)

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

In a mixing bowl, season the minced meat generously with gyro seasoning, salt, and pepper and mix well. Slice the onions into rings and sauté them in a pan with sugar and salt, then set aside. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (fan oven). Grease a deep baking tray with olive oil. Place the minced meat on the baking tray and spread with the sour cream. Crumble the feta cheese. Wash the olives. Spread the olives, feta, chopped garlic, and onions over the minced meat. Sprinkle the grated Emmental cheese over the minced meat. Spoon over the Metaxa sauce. Bake for about 30 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius (fan oven).
