Onion melt

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 4 onions
  • 1 apple
  • 250 g palm fat (health food store)
  • 50 ml oil (rapeseed oil)
  • some salt and pepper
  • some soy sauce
  • some thyme or marjoram

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Heat the palm fat with the rapeseed oil. Peel the onions, dice them, and sauté them in the hot fat. Peel, core, and dice the apple, and add it. When everything is cooked through (takes about 15-20 minutes), season with salt, pepper, soy sauce, and thyme or marjoram (I always go easy on the salt, as the soy sauce already contains salt). Pour the melted mixture into twist-off jars while still hot, seal immediately, and let the jars stand upside down for 5 minutes. Then turn them upside down and let them cool completely. Unopened, it will keep for about 6 months. Once opened and refrigerated until ready to eat, it will keep for about 2 months.
