Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 jar of sour cherries
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 milk rolls or water rolls
  • e.g. milk
  • n. B. sugar
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 1 drop of cherry brandy, optional
  • n. B. Butter flakes

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Drain the cherries and separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Cut the rolls into small pieces and place them in a large bowl. Pour cold milk over the rolls until they are thoroughly soaked. Add the sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla sugar and mix well. Finally, fold in the cherries and beaten egg whites, adding kirsch, if desired. Transfer to a prepared baking dish and dot with butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan oven) for about 45 minutes.
