Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 cakes (ready-made sponge cakes – flavor of your choice)

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pack of cake icing, flavor of your choice

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours

also called cupcake pops, makes about 40 pieces

You’ll need 40 wooden skewers or lollipop sticks. Crumble two finished, cooled sponge cakes (in the photos, we used one marzipan and one chocolate) into a bowl. You can, of course, also use cake mixes. Make the frosting (a type of buttercream): Place the cream cheese and softened butter in a bowl and beat with a hand mixer for about 30 seconds until fluffy. Set the hand mixer to the lowest speed and slowly add the powdered sugar. Mix everything well (loosen the powdered sugar from the sides and add it to the cream). Now add the vanilla essence and beat everything on high speed until creamy – about one minute. Add half of the frosting mixture to the cake crumbs and mix well until a smooth batter forms (CAUTION: Be sure to use something to mix this—not your hands, as it will be very sticky). Now form small balls from the sticky dough (approx. 3.5 cm in diameter) and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper, for example. Place the whole thing in the fridge for at least 1 hour. Melt some of the chocolate glaze and get the wooden or paper picks ready. Now dip the picks approx. 1 cm into the liquid chocolate glaze and then insert them halfway into the cake pops. Now put the cake pops and the picks back in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Glaze + decoration: In the meantime, melt the desired glaze (note: it must be an glaze that sets when cooled! The cold glaze should also have a nice shine) and prepare the desired decoration. Now carefully dip the cake pops into the glaze. This works best if you hold the bowl with the liquid glaze at an angle, carefully dip the cake pop and turn it until all sides are covered with the glaze. Now remove the cake pop and let the excess icing drip off. Then decorate as desired—your imagination is the limit. Place the finished cake pop in a piece of Styrofoam to cool. Depending on the icing, the drying process takes about 30 minutes. Et voilà—done! Ideal for children’s birthdays or parties, etc.
