Turkish coffee Israeli style

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 6 ½ cups water (demo cups)
  • 6 tsp, heaped coffee powder for Turkish coffee, very finely ground
  • 6 ½ tsp, heaped sugar
  • 2 cardamom pods, green

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

You need a coffee pot with a handle to make Turkish coffee. A small pot can also be used as a substitute. Do not leave the stove during preparation, as it can easily boil over. Gather 6 small demitasse cups with saucers. Place the water, coffee powder, sugar, and cardamom pods in the pot and place on the stove over medium heat. Once it warms up, stir gently until the sugar dissolves. Now wait (do not stir) until the coffee rises to the top. Before it boils over, remove from the heat and pour a little foamy coffee into each cup, then divide the remaining coffee among the cups. Serve immediately. If you like, enjoy with sweet pastries. It can also be savory. It tastes good with baked puff pastry filled with feta cheese and spinach. This drink is very popular in Israel and is served in every coffee house there.
