the perfect companion for ice cream or cake

Toffee sauce: First, heat the butter and sugar in a saucepan. Caution: Keep an eye on the sauce. If any of the sugar starts to burn, add half a cup of water. After about 7 minutes, the mixture should be slightly brown. Continue heating the sauce over medium heat until all the sugar crystals have caramelized and bubbles form. About 4 minutes later, the color should turn a rusty brown. Caution: Don’t let it burn! Now remove the pan from the heat and gradually add the cream in small portions. Let the sauce cool. It will keep in the refrigerator for two weeks. Oreo sauce: Whisk together the water, sugar, and cocoa powder in a saucepan. Crush the Oreos and cream in a blender and add to the saucepan. Heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. When the sauce has thickened, let it cool and enjoy. The sauce will keep in the refrigerator for about a week.
