onion juice

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Rock candy

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

a cough syrup from grandma’s kitchen that helps a lot and tastes good too

Peel the onion and slice into rings. Arrange the rings loosely in a clean jam jar, adding a few pieces of rock candy in between. Finally, squeeze on the lemon juice and close the jar tightly. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight. After about an hour, the first juice will have formed. When I have a cold, I usually put the jar on early in the morning, and by the evening the jar is usually half full of juice. I wouldn’t leave it standing for longer than two days; it’s better to make fresh juice then. It’s a great cough suppressant, especially in the evening when a tickly cough is at its worst. So far, I haven’t had any problems with the children not wanting it, as it tastes really good and the onion doesn’t really smell of onions anymore.
