Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 4 turkey legs
- n. B. Mustard for spreading
- 1 tbsp mustard for the sauce
- ½ onion(s), finely chopped
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- 1 tsp, leveled mustard seeds
- salt and pepper
- 1 liter of water or chicken broth
- Oil for frying
- n. B. Sauce thickener
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Wash the turkey legs and pat dry. Heat a little oil in a large pot. Sprinkle the turkey legs with salt and pepper, brush with mustard, and brown in the heated oil. Remove the turkey legs from the pot and brown the finely chopped onion. Return the turkey legs to the pot and deglaze with 1 liter of water or chicken stock. Add the bay leaves, salt, pepper, mustard powder, mustard seeds, and 1 tablespoon of mustard and simmer over low heat for about 1 hour (the cooking time depends on the size of the legs). Remove the turkey legs and bay leaves and thicken the sauce with a sauce thickener. We like to serve this with rice and corn, or alternatively, with potatoes and salad. Peas or green beans would also make a good side dish.
