Mexican Iced Tea – Agua de Jamaica

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 liters of water
  • 80 g hibiscus flower(s)
  • 100 g sugar
  • 10 g ginger
  • ½ lemon(s)
  • ½ liter orange juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 6 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 6 hours 15 minutes

Bring one liter of water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add the hibiscus flowers, sugar, peeled ginger pieces, and lemon juice to the boiling water. Stir briefly and turn off the heat. Stir occasionally, let it steep uncovered for 10 minutes, then strain out the flowers and ginger pieces. Finally, add the remaining two liters of water and half a liter of orange juice and chill.
