Fried ham rolls in tomato cream sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slices of cooked ham
  • 4 slice(s) ham, raw, e.g. Black Forest
  • 4 slices of cheese (Edam)
  • 1 egg(s), beaten
  • breadcrumbs
  • Butter for frying
  • 1 jar mushrooms, sliced, 280 g gross
  • some butter
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 100 ml meat broth, possibly ready-made product
  • 100 ml cream
  • 1 tsp paprika paste
  • 1 shot of cognac
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Top cooked ham with raw ham, arrange cheese on top, and roll up. Secure the rolls with a rolling pin, dip them in beaten egg, and coat with breadcrumbs. Brown well, remove from the pan, and keep warm. For the sauce, melt some butter in a pan and briefly toss the drained mushrooms. Add the cream, tomato ketchup, paprika paste, and the broth. Mix everything together and season with a dash of cognac. Bring to a boil briefly. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Add the ham rolls for 2-3 minutes; do not cook for any longer.
