Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g potatoes, boil until firm, not from a new harvest
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

This Rösti is perfect without turning

Wash the potatoes, cover, and boil for about 20 minutes. Rinse and peel. Let cool for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Coarsely grate. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a 28 cm ovenproof skillet. Add the grated potatoes. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Press everything together to form a potato flatbread and briefly fry the bottom. Spread 3-5 tablespoons of cream and 1 tablespoon of butter in small pieces on top. Then bake in a preheated oven (225°C electric oven, 200°C fan, gas mark 4) for about 25 minutes. Slide the potatoes out of the pan and portion them out.
