Mashed potatoes with fried onions

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 large onions
  • 80 g butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 600 g potatoes
  • 300 ml milk
  • some salt and pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel and finely dice the onions. Fry them in 50g butter and 2 tablespoons olive oil until golden brown. Meanwhile, wash and peel the potatoes, cook them in salted water, and drain. Let the potatoes steam briefly and then mash them. Bring the milk to a boil with 30g butter. Season with salt, pepper, and a little nutmeg. Add the onions to the potatoes and mix thoroughly.
