Quick tomato and sauerkraut pan

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 150 g onion(s), diced
  • 1 garlic clove(s), finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 pair of Debrecziner sausages, cut into wide wheels
  • 100 ml red wine, dry
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped, approx. 300 g
  • 240 g potatoes, roughly diced
  • 400 g sauerkraut, pre-cooked
  • 1 tsp sambal oelek
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • e.g. sour cream, stirred

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

hearty and spicy

Heat the oil in a large saucepan and sauté the onion and garlic. Deglaze with wine. Add the tomatoes and potatoes and bring to a boil. After 8-10 minutes, stir in the sauerkraut and sausage rings. Simmer for another 20 minutes. Stir occasionally and season with sugar, sambal oelek, salt, and pepper. Serve in deep, warmed plates with a dollop of sour cream. Serve with a baguette, if desired.
