Heart French Toast

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 eggs
  • 200 g cream, alternatively milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 2 tsp powdered sugar for the egg cream
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar for dusting
  • 8 slices of toast
  • Butter or clarified butter for frying
  • Jam, red and/or Nutella, alternatively peanut butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

You will need a heart-shaped cookie cutter. Put the eggs, cream, vanilla sugar, and 2 teaspoons of powdered sugar into a bowl or dish, then mix everything thoroughly. Cut out a heart from every other slice of toast. Alternatively, you can do this step after the toast slices have been baked. Add the slices and the cut-out hearts one after the other to the egg mixture, toss them in the mixture, and remove them from the pan. Heat the fat in a pan, fry the slices on one side, then turn them over and remove them from the pan once they have reached the desired color. Do the same with the cut-out hearts. Dust the slices from which the hearts were cut out with more or less powdered sugar. Spread all the other slices with jam, Nutella, or peanut butter. Place the slices of toast with the cut-out hearts on the buttered slices and place the cut-out hearts on top – done.
