Caramelized celery

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g celery
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • some salt
  • some black pepper, freshly ground
  • salt water

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

e.g. as a side dish to pan-fried dishes

Wash the celery and cut into approximately 1-2 cm pieces. Blanch in salted water for about 4-5 minutes, then drain in a colander. Heat butter in a non-stick pan, add the celery, salt, and sugar, and cook over medium heat until the liquid has almost evaporated and the celery pieces are lightly browned. Turn occasionally. Top with some freshly ground pepper.
