Apple and cinnamon cake à la Heike

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • 40 g butter
  • 75 g sugar
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 50 ml milk
  • ½ pack of vanilla sugar
  • ½ pack of baking powder
  • ½ orange(s), untreated, grated peel
  • 2 apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • some cinnamon and sugar for sprinkling
  • some powdered sugar
  • Flour for the work surface

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Place all of the dough ingredients in a bowl and knead into a smooth dough. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Quarter, peel, core, and slice the apples. Place the apples in a bowl and toss well with the cinnamon and sugar. Spread the mixture over the dough and press down lightly. Roll up from the wide side. Cut the dough into 2 cm wide slices. Line a small springform pan (22 cm) with baking paper and arrange the dough slices in the shape of roof tiles. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon/sugar and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool, and dust with icing sugar before serving.
