Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • 100 g butter or margarine, cold, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 100 ml water, cold

Place the flour in a bowl, add the butter and salt, and mix with a knife, continuing to break up the butter pieces. Mix the water with the vinegar, add to the flour and butter mixture, and quickly knead into a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes. Roll it out and place it in a 28 cm springform pan lined with baking paper. Add the filling as desired and continue cooking according to the recipe. Bake for a long time and at a moderate temperature depending on the type and amount of filling. The dough has a neutral flavor and can be used to make both sweet and savory pies or quiches. It is very elastic and tear-resistant, making it ideal for making stretched strudel. Let it rest for at least 1 hour at room temperature under an upturned bowl.
