fast, easy and cheap

Wash the lettuce hearts and shake dry. Set aside the ham slices. Now slightly separate the lettuce leaves (do not cut them open) so that you can wrap a slice of ham around the smallest center piece in the middle. Press the next leaves down and wrap them with 2-3 more slices of ham. Now press the outer leaves down and wrap them with the remaining ham slices (secure with toothpicks if necessary). Place both lettuce hearts in a baking dish. Peel and dice the onions and spread them over the lettuce. Make a marinade from cream cheese, tomato paste, and milk (the consistency should be pasty, not runny), season with salt and pepper, and spread it over the lettuce hearts. Cover with foil and place in the oven at 200°C for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes. Now arrange one lettuce heart on each plate with a little sauce. Serve with white bread, rice, or pasta. Be careful when adding salt, as the ham already contains a lot of salt. Do not make the marinade too runny. During cooking, the vegetables (lettuce, onions) release a lot of juice, which combines with the marinade.
