Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 slices of toast (American sandwich toast)
  • 8 slice(s) bacon, or bacon in thin slices
  • 4 m.-sized eggs
  • 4 slice(s) processed cheese, OR:
  • e.g. grated cheese (Gouda, Emmental, Mozzarella)
  • salt and pepper
  • some chives, fresh or freeze-dried
  • possibly oil or butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Toast with egg, cheese and bacon

First, take half of the slices of toast and cut out a relatively large window in the middle (if you like, you can use cookie cutters, such as a heart). Then, heat the pan to medium heat. Once the pan is warm, place the slices of toast with the holes in the pan and crack an egg into each one, season it with chives, salt, and pepper, let it whiten (if you like, you can flip the toast to make sure the egg is cooked through), and then place two slices of bacon and cheese on top. Before the cheese melts, place the whole slices of toast on top so it stays on. Cook until golden brown on both sides. If you like your toast crispy, add oil or butter to the pan.
