Crispy cheese chips from the microwave

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g cheese, e.g. Gouda or Parmesan
  • 1 tsp spice(s), e.g. dried herbs, pepper, paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Many types of cheese can be used for the cheese chips, depending on what you like best. When choosing the right type, just make sure the cheese isn’t too soft, meaning its water content isn’t too high, as otherwise the chips won’t be crispy. Camembert or other soft cheeses aren’t suitable. Grate the cheese finely into a bowl. You can also mix different cheeses together. This recipe is particularly suitable for using up leftovers. Mix the grated cheese with the spices to taste. Dried herbs, pepper, or even paprika powder are particularly good. Spread the cheese mixture tablespoon by tablespoon onto a plate lined with baking paper or parchment paper and melt it in the microwave for 2 to 5 minutes at 900 watts. The “baking time” depends on the water content of the cheese. The harder the cheese, the shorter the “baking time.” When the cheese bubbles and slowly turns golden brown, the chips are ready. Remove the chips from the microwave and place them on a paper towel to cool and drain. The chips taste particularly good as a snack between meals or in the evening in front of the TV, but also as a garnish for salads and other cold dishes.
