Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 hours; Total time approx. 20 hours 20 minutes
for a party buffet or simply to snack on
Finely dice the onions and sauté in olive oil until lightly browned. Mix with the cream cheese and herbs (I always use “8 herbs”) and season generously with salt and pepper. The salt in particular will diminish during baking, so don’t be too sparing. Place the mixture on the thawed puff pastry sheets, carefully roll them up along the long side, and place them in the freezer for about 20 minutes, which will make them easier to slice. Once chilled, cut into 3-5 mm thick slices and place them on the baking sheet. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (400°F) until golden brown—about 15 minutes. Don’t be alarmed, the filling will look quite dark, but if you bake it for any less time, it will taste a bit mushy. Let it cool and enjoy!
