Grandma's style porridge

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

This is a recipe from my childhood. Measure 500 ml of milk, pour 300 ml into a saucepan, and bring to a boil, then stir in the flour. Once the milk is boiling on the stove, stir in the flour-milk mixture. Very important: Don’t stop stirring, or it will burn. As soon as it starts to thicken, remove it from the stove and set it aside. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Finally, stir in an egg yolk. Tastes great with cinnamon sugar, applesauce, or—this is what Grandma always made—with blueberry juice!
