Some cold foods can be more beneficial or less harmful to your figure. Often, we are used to heating food because it tastes better when we do. However, some foods should still be eaten cold. This will increase their benefits and reduce the harm to your figure.

Antje Gal, a representative of the German Nutrition Society, told us which foods are familiar to everyone – it is advisable to eat them cold. So here’s a list of things you shouldn’t heat.

These foods should be eaten cold

The first on the list are foods that contain starch, such as rice, pasta, and potatoes. The nutritionist explains that cold starch is absorbed in the body as fiber. In this case, these foods will be beneficial for intestinal microflora and blood sugar regulation.

When foods are cold, the starch in them is produced as a decomposition product. This has a positive effect on the intestinal flora, regulates blood sugar levels, and can even help you lose weight, explains the nutritionist.

Reheating rice, pasta, and potatoes significantly reduces their benefits. Therefore, it is better to eat them immediately after cooking or cold. The list of foods that should not be reheated also includes:

  • meat
  • spinach
  • lettuce and greens;
  • fruits and berries
  • mushrooms;
  • breast milk
