Ingredients

  • 400 g Mixed minced meat
  • 100 g Ground almonds
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Mustard
  • Espelette pepper
  • Black pepper from the mill
  • Salt
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 100 ml Vegetable stock
  • 150 ml Cream
  • 4 tbsp Ajvar medium sharp
  • 150 g Grated mountain cheese
  • Oil

Instructions

  • Put the minced meat in a bowl. Add the egg, the mustard and the ground almonds and season with salt, pepper and Espelette pepper and knead everything very well. Spread oil on an ovenproof dish. Shape the minced meat into small meatballs and place in the mold.
  • Heat some oil in a saucepan and fry the onion and garlic until translucent. Then deglaze with the vegetable stock and the cream and add the ajvar and let everything simmer together for about 10 minutes. Then season with salt and pepper and pour the sauce over meatballs.
  • Place the meatballs and the sauce in the oven preheated to 180 degrees for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, distribute the grated mountain cheese on the meatballs and bake for another 20 minutes until the cheese is nicely gratinated. We had rice with it.
