American Cookies Light and Dark

The perfect american cookies light and dark recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 280 g Flour
  • 250 g Butter
  • 100 g Sugar brown
  • 130 g Sugar white
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 0,5 tsp Salt
  • 1 Pck. Vanilla sugar
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa
  • 40 g Coarsely chopped chocolate of your choice
  • 60 g Macadamia nuts roughly chopped
  1. Beat the butter with both types of sugar until frothy. Add the eggs and vanilla sugar and continue to beat until creamy.
  2. Remove some flour and mix with the baking soda. Stir the remaining flour into the egg, sugar and butter mixture, spoon by spoon, and finally add the baking soda and flour mixture. It’s a tough, pasty dough.
  3. Now divide the dough for the 2 different types, whereby it should be 1 tbsp less for the dark type.
  4. Now stir in the 2 tablespoons of cocoa into the dough for the chocolate cookies and fold in the roughly chopped nuts.
  5. Add the chocolate chunks to the light batter and fold in.
  6. Preheat the oven to 190 ° (convection).
  7. Place the dough tablespoon at a time on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Leave a lot of space, because the dough runs very heavily. If possible no more than 8 pieces. per tray.
  8. Approx. Bake for 8-10 minutes – depending on the oven. Tip: You are correct if the edges are slightly brown, but the center is still slightly damp.
  9. Then immediately (!) Take it out of the oven and very carefully let it “slide” onto a smooth surface together with the baking paper. They are still very fragile when warm. They then harden when they cool down, but remain really soft and moist. They can be kept in a lockable box for approx. 4 days …………… if they have not been cleaned up beforehand – as with us … …
  10. Note 10: If they got crispy, they were unfortunately too long in the oven. So take it courageously, even if you have the feeling that you are not yet “through”.
  11. You can also put chocolate and nuts in a mass or add more cocoa. It can also be walnuts, however you like.
  12. The above stated quantity refers to pieces.
