American Honey-Glaze for Christmas Ham
The perfect american honey-glaze for christmas ham recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 2 tsp Mustard
- 1,5 tbsp Maple syrup
- 1,5 tbsp Acacia honey
- 1 tbsp Sugar brown
- 1 Pc. Grated orange peel
“Gerichte-Geschichte”
- A real American Christmas ham needs a decent glaze, of course. The most widespread is the honey glaze, which is often mixed with a little mustard. We use our favorite mustard, tarragon mustard, and refine the glaze with maple syrup.
The glaze
- Mix the ingredients of the glaze together well and leave to rest for a while.
The Christmas ham
- It is best to pre-cook the ham in seasoned salted water for 30-90 minutes, depending on the size.
- Then take it out of the water, pat dry, and coat one side with glaze.
- Place in a preheated oven (at around 180-200 degrees) and fry for 15 minutes.
- Turn, coat with glaze and fry for another 30-60 minutes. Brush with glaze over and over again
tip
- Smaller, loosened pieces of ham can only be fried in the oven. In America, however, a whole ham is usually fried and this should therefore be pre-cooked. The boiling and roasting times depend on the size of the piece.
