Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable fat, solid, cold
  • 2 tbsp butter, cold
  • 170 ml milk
  • Flour for the work surface
  • 2 tbsp milk for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 47 minutes

Rolled biscuits, makes 9 pieces.

Preheat the oven to 220°C (top/bottom heat). In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Then, using two knives, work the vegetable fat and butter into the flour mixture until a coarse, crumbly mixture forms. Pour in the milk and mix the dough with your fingertips until it forms a ball. Knead the dough ball on a floured surface 12-15 times. Then roll out to a thickness of 2 cm and cut out 5 cm diameter rolls using a baking dish or a glass. Knead the dough pieces together again and cut out more rolls. Place the rolls touching on an ungreased and uncoated baking sheet and brush them with the 2 tablespoons of milk (this will make them more golden). Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown. Serve hot. Freshly sliced from the oven, spread them thickly with butter and strawberry jam. Note: This recipe produces soft, white biscuits because the rolls touch each other. For crispy rolls, place them 2-3 cm apart on the baking sheet.
