Apple and egg white casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 apples
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp pear schnapps (can be omitted)
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 40 g butter
  • 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

1. Peel the apple, remove the core and cut into quarters. 2. Set 2 quarters aside (for step 7) and coarsely grate the rest. 3. Mix together the sugar and pear schnapps. 4. Beat the egg whites with the vanilla sugar until stiff peaks form. 5. Mix the apple mixture with 3/4 of the beaten egg whites and pour into a greased baking dish. 6. Pour the rest of the beaten egg whites onto the apple mixture. 7. Chop the remaining 2 quarters into small pieces and decorate the beaten egg whites. 8. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs. 9. Bake in a preheated oven at 120 degrees C for about 30 minutes. 10. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and serve warm.
