Apple in puff pastry

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g puff pastry
  • 4 apples (Gala Royal)
  • 40 g pine nuts
  • 8 almonds, peeled
  • 60 g apricot jam
  • 3 tbsp Marsala
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 250 ml water
  • some milk
  • some powdered sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Peel the apples and core them with a corer. Place the water, Marsala wine, and sugar in a saucepan and cook the apples over low heat for about 10 minutes. Cut the puff pastry into squares; the size depends on the size of the apples. Remove the apples from the pan and let them cool. Place the cooled apples in the center of the puff pastry squares. Fill the center hole with apricot jam, pine nuts, and 2 almonds per apple. Pull the edges of the puff pastry up to the point, completely wrapping the apple. If desired, form leaves from the remaining puff pastry and decorate the pastry with them. Place the apples on a greased baking sheet and brush with milk. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, dust with powdered sugar, and serve while still warm. Serve with vanilla sauce, if desired.
