Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 5 minutes
For the dough, mix the flour with salt, cinnamon, and sugar. Cut the butter into small pieces and add it with the egg and a few tablespoons of ice-cold water. Knead everything into a smooth dough. Roll two-thirds of the dough into a ball and roll it out on a floured surface into a circle about 28 cm in diameter. Roll the other third into a ball and roll it out into a circle about 22-24 cm in diameter. Carefully place both dough circles in the refrigerator and let them rest for 1 hour. Now peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. Mix the lemon juice with the sugar and drizzle over the apples. Place the large circle of dough in a 24 cm springform pan and pull the dough up around the edges by about 2-3 cm. Pour in the apples, place the small circle of dough on top, and press it together with the dough edges. Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 45 minutes. The apple pie tastes best warm with vanilla ice cream.
