Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 gr. jar red cabbage, original, not apple red cabbage
  • Water
  • 1 apple
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 tbsp sugar or to taste
  • 2 tbsp vinegar essence

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 50 minutes

Place the red cabbage in a pot. Fill the jar with water and add it. Peel the apples and dice them. Add the apples, sugar, vinegar, and bay leaves to the red cabbage and stir well. Bring the red cabbage to a boil briefly, then simmer gently for 1-2 hours. Check frequently for sufficient liquid and stir occasionally. This goes well with a delicious roast, dumplings, potatoes, or mashed potatoes.
