The artichoke strengthens the liver and bile flow, which leads to a higher production of bile acids. The additional bile acid can have a positive effect on health:

  • The artichoke increases fat digestion and has a protective effect on the liver.

  • It can also help against loss of appetite and arteriosclerosis and is said to have a positive effect on the treatment of hepatitis C.
  • The artichoke also stimulates the activity of the intestinal muscles to aid digestion.
  • The ingredients of the leaf extracts are even medically recognized for combating dyspeptic complaints (known for irritable stomachs, among other things). Dyspeptic symptoms include nausea and vomiting, heartburn, gas, bloating, and upper abdominal pain that come back.

Use artichoke as a medicinal plant

There are many different forms of artichoke leaves that you can take to promote health:

  • You get the artichoke in a dried and crushed state for tea and as a fresh plant juice.
  • Prepare the tea by pouring hot water over about a teaspoon of the usable leaves and letting it steep for ten minutes. A cup of tea should be drunk before each meal.
  • Artichoke juice works better for irritable stomachs and protects the liver since the juice still contains strong ingredients from unripe leaves.
  • In addition, dry artichoke extracts are also available as capsules, coated tablets, or tablets.
  • Experts recommend 6g of the artichoke varieties to be taken per day.
